Formerly a segment on the show 'VS Arashi' this now stand-alone show pits celebrities against one another in a thrilling game of ＢＡＢＡ抜き (Old Maid) to decide who will be the champion (weakest/joker) of the year!

At the end of the 1950s, some filmmakers attempted to escape the ideological dictates by turning to psychological drama. We watch as an aging, uptight, strict woman who has come to inspect a regional publishing house literally blossoms and snows. A few days of comfort and happiness, however, are capped by a bitter epiphany: the man who had so charmed her has indeed embezzled the money entrusted to him.

Henriette lives alone in a luxurious old apartment in Wiesbaden, which she inherited from her parents. Her everyday life is as quiet and orderly as the large rooms around her. She works as a teacher at a nearby ballet school. She regularly writes letters to a composer whom she admires but has never met in person and spends her evenings with friends who are actually her parents' friends. A chance encounter jolts Henriette out of her quiet life: she observes Felix, who is deaf and mute, stealing money in a café that was meant for the waiter. When she speaks to him on the train shortly afterwards, it is the beginning of an unusual relationship full of contrasts and unspoken passion.

Gilbert Saroni impersonates an exceedingly ugly woman who coyly flirts with her fan.

An old maid is walking about the studio while the photographer is getting his camera ready. She first looks at a hanger, which immediately falls from the wall, not being able to stand her gaze. Then she looks at the clock, and her face causes it to fall to the floor with a crash. She then walks over to the mirror, which suddenly cracks in several places. The photographer then poses her. Just as he is to press the button the camera explodes with a great puff of smoke, completely destroying the camera and demolishing the studio. The picture finishes up with the old maid tipping back in her chair and losing her balance, displaying a large quantity of fancy lace goods. Cross-dressed Gilbert Saroni reprises the role of the old maid.

Romesh Ranganathan takes charge of the back-stabbing big money game show. Can the contestants create a chain of answers and avoid the boot?

Nine contestants work as a team to answer general knowledge questions against the clock and amass prize money up to a total of £1,000 per round. After each round, the contestants vote for whoever they consider the worst player. That player is the Weakest Link and is forced to endure the humiliating Walk of Shame. This continues with a decreasing time limit until only two players are left. They play head to head to decide the victor. Only the final winner wins any money. The other eight players leave with nothing. Host Anne Robinson is on hand to provide scathing commentary on the players' progress (or lack thereof), armed with her legendary catch-phrase: "You are the Weakest Link: goodbye!"

The American version of the British television game show The Weakest Link aired in two separate formats, one on primetime network television and one in daily syndication.The primetime Weakest Link debuted on NBC April 16, 2001 and aired until July 14, 2002. The series' final ten episodes went unaired until 2003, when PAX TV aired some of them. The remainder aired on GSN, which maintains broadcast rights to the series. While the primetime series was still in production, the daily syndicated series was being developed. That series debuted at midseason in 2002, premiering on January 7, 2002, and aired for a season and a half before ending its run on May 20, 2003. Reruns of this series would join the primetime series on both PAX and GSN but neither series is currently airing.

After Anne Robinson hosted the original 3 seasons, Jane Lynch now hosts as eight contestants work as a team to bank the maximum amount of prize money across multiple rounds by answering rapid-fire trivia questions, with each successive correct answer increasing the amount of potential winnings, and each incorrect answer breaking the chain and forcing the contestants to start over with the lowest amount of money. At the end of each round, players vote for the person whom they consider to be the weakest link, and the contestant with the most votes leaves the game as Jane delivers the famous catchphrase: "You are the weakest link.
